CONNECTOR MATING TIPS:
Before joining connectors, inspect mating surfaces for dirt, dust, debris and bent or broken contacts. When mating connectors, always turn the coupling nut rather than the body. Many connectors are destroyed by over-torquing the coupling nut. In general, the tighter you make the coupling mechanism, the better the performance. Paired connectors tend to be inductive due to gaps of various types. While tightening down on the coupling nut will close many of these gaps, it also permanently modifies the shape of the connector components. If you must use pliers on the coupling nut, wrap a piece of rubber around the nut and stop when you meet solid resistance. Use a torque wrench for mating threaded adapters or cable assembly terminations when the reciprocal connector is mounted to equipment. Over torquing of plugs (male) can damage the instrument's jack (female) and the adapter or cable connector. This will also void the product warranties.

ProGold® Features & Benefits

Improves Conductivity Maintains Optimum Signal Quality Protects Base Metals from Oxidation Forms Protective Anti-Tarnishing Layer Reduces Arcing, RFI and Intermittent Connections Reduces Wear and Abrasion Temperature Range, -45 C (-49 F) to +310 C (590 F) ProGold is a unique conditioning solution that improves conductivity and provides long-lasting protection on gold, base metals and other precious metal contacts and connections (gold, silver, rhodium, copper, bronze, nickel, etc.). Use on plated connectors, contacts and metal surfaces for maximum performance and protection. Recommended for critical applications where only slight cleaning action is necessary. If the surface looks clean, applying DeoxIT Power Booster first is usually not necessary. ProGold is designed to dissolve small amounts of oxidation. Apply ProGold after DeoxIT on plated metal surfaces, except where noted with PreservIT below. The more critical the connection or part, especially low current applications, ProGold should be the final step. For reference, ProGold has approximately 0.5% cleaning action.
